Hoboken Cricket Club Hoboken CC v BR Challengers on Sun 26 Jun 2016 at 1 PM
Hoboken Cricket Club Won by 10 wickets

Match report Match Report: CCL, June 26th 2016, Van Cortlandt Park
Hoboken CC (61 for 0), beat BR Challengers (57 all out) by ten wickets. Sudarshan 5-8, Saket 2-17, Ben Chelladurai 46* Darragh 15*
Hoboken CC lost the toss and were asked to field on a warm, sunny day. Samay and Saket, the opening bowlers, generated excellent pace and carry and troubled the BRC openers, although the scoreboard ticked over due to wides. Saket provided the first breakthrough as the batsman forced a quick delivery straight to an alert Sagar. Samay, after having a close shout for lbw turned down the next over, ensured there was no doubt the ball after, trapping Mahfuz for 4. Samay took an excellent running catch at long-off off Saket's bowling the next over, reducing BRC to 38-3.
Sudarshan came on at first change, and had the batsman caught at slip by Neeraj off his first legal delivery, before dismissing another batsman bowled at the end of the over. Sagar came on, and kept the pressure on by bowling a maiden while beating the batsman regularly. Sudarshan continued his dream spell by uprooting the leg stumps of two more batsmen with inswingers in the next over. Sagar rattled the new batsman with fierce pace and a searing bouncer before forcing him to slap a ball straight to Sudarshan at short cover. Sudarshan capped off his five-for in the next over by yorking the new batsman with the score at 43-9. The final wicket partnership offered some resistance, defending doughtily and taking advantage of wides and the occasional single to grind their way to 57 before Saravana ended the innings by flattening the offstump of the young batsman.
Darragh and Ben, facing a small target on a tricky pitch against a young, motivated team, set about the task in brutal fashion, with Ben making his intentions clear with a boundary off his first ball, before tearing into the next bowler with two massive sixes and another boundary in the second over.
Darragh got into the action as well, hammering a straight four and a towering six (and even running a 2) as the target was hunted down in just 5.2 overs. Ben capped off a comprehensive win for Hoboken CC with consecutive fours through long-off. Ben finished with 6 fours and 2 sixes as he remained unbeaten on 46* after hitting the winning runs.
Overall, it was a clinical performance from Hoboken CC, with great performances in all three aspects of the game. Each of our fast bowlers took at least one wicket, our fielders held all their catches and the batsmen chased the target down in record time with no hiccups. The only areas to improve might be cutting down the wides (nearly half the runs scored by BRC this game were extras) and tightening up slightly on groundfielding.
We finished with enough time that we even had time for another friendly, 15-over match with BRC, with the highlights being Samay's 3 wickets in an over bowling spin, and Shahid inexplicably getting a batsman to hit his own stumps despite landing a legspinner on his own half of the pitch.
